Chamonix has a bus system which runs up and down the Valley and serves the various ski resorts and hiking areas. All lines pass by the Chamonix Sud Bus Stop, make a circuit in Chamonix and then connect the town with other 4 communes: Les Houches, Servoz, Argentiere, Vallorcine.

There is a year-round service and a winter season service. In high season, there is rarely a waiting time longer than 20 minutes. Normally heavy snowfall is not a problem for the buses, as they are well equipped. On the other hand, when it snows a lot in Chamonix the roads can get pretty messy for cars, some of which may be lacking the proper equipment, and the high volume of cars raises the pollution levels, so leave your car at home and take advantage of this free bus service.
Lines 1 and 2 run every 30 minutes all year round, every day from 6:30am to 8:00pm, except on Sundays and off season holidays when just a single bus runs per hour. Line 3 will also serve the route Chamonix-Servoz.

Timetable and Bus Frequency: Interseason:

Line 1 : Les Houches - Les Praz Flegere
Line 2 : Le Tour - Les Bossons
Line 3 : Chamonix - Servoz

Line 11 : Chamonix - Les Grands Montets Express
Line 12 : Chamonix - Le Tour Express
Line 13 : Les Iles - Le Tour
Line 14 : Le Brevent - Les Planards
Line 15 : Chamonix - Les Houches Express
Line 16 : Les Houches intern shuttle

A free shuttle service called Le Mulet runs around Chamonix town centre every 10 minutes in winter/summer season and every 15 minutes in interseason. The Mulet service runs circuits around Chamonix centre where the large buses can no longer pass due to pedestrian schemes and provides connection points to the main bus service that continues up and down the valley to the main lift areas and villages. See Mulet new route.

There is also a Night Bus running four times per night, in both winter and summer season. Using this service on weekends it is also possible upon reservation. Please call 04 50 53 05 55 to book your trip before 4pm. Attention, Night Bus Service available from winter 2015-2016. Trips cost: €2.

Travel during the day is free with a "Carte d'Hôte", "Gens du Pays" or ski pass. Ask your hotel/apartment/chalet provider for a "Carte d'Hôte" card (this is partially what the nightly tourist tax covers). If you do not have a valid card, the ticket price for each passage is €1.50.
